From Five Good Minutes in the Evening

When you’re still at work and finishing your day, take five good minutes to leave all of your work at work.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes.

Breathe mindfully or listen mindfully for about a minute.

Set your intention. For example, “May this practice enable me to leave work and feel finished, in heart, mind, and body.”

Continue mindful breathing or listening and allow yourself to release tensions, softening and opening as much as feels safe to you.

Speaking quietly to yourself, acknowledge the end of your workday. Say something like “Now I am done with work” or “I’m leaving work now.” Or use whatever phrase feels right to you. Breathe mindfully for a few more breaths.

If you like, you could offer an aspiration or a prayer. For example, “May the highest good come from my
work today.”

End by opening your eyes and moving gently.
