From Five Good Minutes at Work

Criticism from your boss or supervisor is par for the course. Some of us can handle it better than others. Constructive criticism serves an important purpose in that it enables us to improve--if we take heed and listen. Useful advice can minimize accidents, increase productivity, and even save lives. Processing practical criticism requires being attentive and mindful of your old, familiar habits. When you receive helpful advice, do your best to first acknowledge the benefits of this new knowledge.

Sit for a quiet moment and reflect on how those benefits might
improve and expand your capacity to learn and grow.

On your inhale, breathe in these improvements and rewards.

And on your exhale, let go of your ego, your defensive side, or
your hurt feelings.

Give yourself time to gradually incorporate this new protocol or
information into your workday.
